Hello Farm Folk,
I started farming in year 2000. It was then that I discovered that there are so many different varieties of garlic, and then that I had the vision for the Global Garlic Project. Grow 40-50,000 bulbs of organic garlic from countries across the world to promote community health, seed diversity, and amazing flavours. It has taken 17 years, but the 2017 crop is the one I have been working towards. The abundant spring rains, in combination with our sandy loam soil has resulted in “the garlic crop of my dreams.”
We will have over 40 people up to the farm this long weekend to help complete the garlic harvest. Based on the first 16,000 bulbs we’ve harvested, is is clear that this years crop is the most vibrant, most healthy of my farming career. Thank you rain! So, I am delighted by the opportunity to share our 2017 garlic crop with you. Our garlic is ideal both for planting and eating. Here is some info on how to grow your own garlic. And here is some info about our various garlic varieties and their unique qualities.
If you would like any advice on which varieties to choose, feel free to get in touch with me at daniel@thecuttingveg.com. If you wish to place a garlic order, we’d love to share with you.
In the end, my garlic dream is really no different than the dream many of us hold for the world: healthy people, healthy ecosystem! Here’s to hoping your dreams are garlicky too!
Keep Livin’ on the Veg!
Daniel
